1. Contract can be written with businesses from the public, private-for profit, or private non-profit sectors. 2. Mahoning & Columbiana Training Association may reimburse up to 50% of employee’s wages to compensate employer’s extraordinary costs incurred during training. 3. An On the Job Training program (OJT) must provide a job seeker with a recognized skill or competency that is in demand in local labor market. 4. The length of the contract depends on the skills needed to perform the position and the candidate’s past experience and how much it relates to current position. 5. (Job seeker must be a dislocated worker- laid off or unemployed due to company closing or downsizing or must meet income guidelines.) You may interview several eligible candidates and chose the one who best fits the company’s needs. Employees are on employer’s payroll, covered under employer’s worker’s compensation etc. We will reimburse you once per month for up to 50% of employee’s wages for that month. Steps the Employer must take: 1) Submit a training plan proposal that includes the type of training that the job seeker will be receiving, the desired length of training, the starting wage including any benefits that are offered, a list of job duties required for the position as well as the length of time you expect to train the employee to acquire each new skill. 2) Once your training proposal is approved you will be required to sign the On the Job Training Contract. 3) You will be required to submit the employee’s time sheet once per month and will be reimbursed for up to 50% of the trainee’s wages.
