On-The-Job Training (OJT)
The On-The-Job (OJT) Program is administered by the Mahoning and Columbiana Training Association and Trumbull County Department of Job and Family Services under the authorization of the Workforce Investment Act of 1998. An OJT may be provided to eligible WIA customers who are assessed as “in need” of training services in order to obtain or retain self-sufficiency employment.  The customer must demonstrate a need for training through the counseling/assessment/vocational exploration phase of the Core and Intensive Services tiers of the One-Stop Center operations, and that they have been unable to obtain/retain self-sufficient employment through Core Service, or Intensive Services tiers or the Job Center.

Incumbent Worker Training Program
The purpose of the Incumbent Worker Training Program (IWTP) is to support projects that will benefit local business and industry by assisting the skill development of existing employees, thereby increasing employee productivity and growth of the company.  The training is expected to lead to the creation of new jobs, retention of jobs, increased wages for better trained workers, a higher-skilled workforce, and a more profitable business climate. Through these projects, employment opportunities will be greatly enhanced, thus enhancing the economy of the Mahoning Valley.

Currently, Trumbull County has exhausted all monies available for IWTP projects.  Please check back periodically with our website for availablilty of funds or call the Business Services Department @ 330.675.2179, option 1.  Thank you.

Ohio Workforce Guarantee Program (OWG)
The Ohio Workforce Guarantee Program (OWG) supports companies that are making investments in facilities, equipment and training that result in the retention and creation of jobs for Ohioans. The OWG is one of the few programs in Ohio that provides direct financial support to employers for training. Employers have the ability to choose the training provider whether it is a company employee or an outside training provider. The OWG pays for a portion of instructor salaries, materials, travel and special needs. Payments are made on a reimbursement basis and the company will enter into a formal grant agreement with the Ohio Department of Development.

For more information on OWG, click here, or contact ODOD Region 12 Workforce Development Director Matthew Falter at (330) 797-6345 or at: Matthew.Falter@development.ohio.gov
