“HOW TO” BUSINESS WORKSHOP SET FOR MAY 27

Future Columbiana County entrepreneurs are invited to attend a workshop on Tuesday, May 27th, to learn how to start a new business.

Two identical workshops will be presented at the Kent Salem City Center located at 230 North Lincoln, Salem, Ohio.

PA CareerLink Schedules Job Fair
Pennsylvania CareerLink of Lawrence County will hold a Career and Job Fair Wednesday June 11 in New Castle. Companies in many industries will be seeking workers at all levels. The Job Fair will be from 11 a.m. until 4 p.m. at the New Englander Banquet Center, 3009 Wilmington Road, New Castle. Because the event gives job seekers an opportunity to meet employers in person, they are urged to dress to make a great impression. The ROC serves Youngstown city and more

The Resource Opportunity Center – The ROC—is successfully serving the residents of Youngstown’s North Side and northern Mahoning County. Located at HeartReach Ministries, 211 Redondo Road, Youngstown, OH 44504, The ROC offers most of the services available at the main Mahoning County One-Stop in Boardman. The Mahoning County Department of Job and Family Services has recently committed two employment specialists to work at The ROC on Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 1 until 3 p.m. MCDJFS has also designed The ROC as a WEP work site.The ROC is open Monday through Thursday from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m. on Friday from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m. and the first Saturday of the month from 9 a.m. until noon. You may qualify for Free Career Readiness Credential (CRC)

The CRC verifies for a potential employer a job seeker’s abilities in Reading for Information, Applied Mathematics and Locating Information.  These skills are needed at some level in almost every job, occupation, or career in today’s economy. It also verifies skill levels necessary to enter some job training programs. Veterans, unemployment compensation recipients and displaced workers are eligible for a limited time to receive this employment resource at no cost. Funding for Tuition Assistance Available
Funding Now Available For those interested in getting additional training to increase their marketable skills. You may be eligible for funding through the Workforce Investment Act (WIA) if you are unemployed, under a certain income level or if you have lost your job. Click here for more information.

Ohio Launches Know How2Go Campaign

Ohio has launched a program aimed at encouraging and preparing more low-income and first-generation students in the state to actively pursue higher education. KnowHow2GoOhio is aimed at 8th  through 10th grade youth and helps them make smart choices that will prepare them for college.
